GV5000 is a desktop diamond verification instrument for loose and mounted stones. GV5000 is designed to separate diamonds from synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants. GV5000 is manually operated and requires an operator to interpret the test results. GV5000 is suitable for an environment where you need to test both mounted and loose diamonds e.g. dealers, diamond and jewellery manufacturers, retailers, buyers and gemmological laboratories.

How Does it Operate?
The user manually places the loose or mounted stones onto a tray that is placed inside the instrument. To start the testing, the user closes the test chamber and starts the testing software. GV5000 captures multiple images and based on visual analysis of the images, and support from a decision tool, the operator concludes the nature of the stones.
The following results can be concluded by the operator based on the data generated by the GV5000:
- ‘Synthetic diamond’
- ‘Diamond simulant’
The ‘Refer’ result could contain potential synthetic diamonds and diamonds. These referrals shall be tested further for full verification.National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC)/Nanjing Baoguang Testing Technology Company recommends further testing by a gemmological laboratory.
GV5000 need to be recalibrated before usage or after it has been moved.
What are the Performance Test Results?
GV5000 was tested in accordance with the Diamond Verification Instrument Standard with the test protocol for instruments that separate diamonds, synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants (Operation Category 3).
The tests took place at the independent laboratory UL in Canton, Massachusetts, United States.
GV5000 was tested with the ASSURE Core Sample that consists of 1,000 diamonds, 200 synthetic diamonds and 200 diamond simulants. The stones are 0.02 ct to 0.20 ct in D-J colour. The below results are from the test with the ASSURE Core Sample.
GV5000 requires manual interpretation and the instrument was tested both with a novice and a manufacturer appointed expert. The manufacturer appointed an expert from UL’s team. The below results are from the expert tests. Both the novice and the expert test results can be found in the summary report issued by UL.
